Hoping that this is a better question than my stupid headrest query yesterday

I was very disturbed to see how easy it was to get water ingress into the spark plug chambers, and once in there … it could go unnoticed for weeks !

I Saw a post on the forum from 2018 where “teknome” used a spark plugs cover plate from a ford fiesta st150 (with slight modification) and fitted it as per photo to his Plus 4 Duratec 2.0 L.

Has anyone else had similar success with this arrangement ?

No such thing as a stupid question. Not asking & staying mushroom is stupid. There are several threads on here about engine covers. I'm sure GDI owners will respond.

A functional cover can be home fabricated using aluminium sheet and a good few hours in the garage.

Since fitting mine over 5 years ago there have been no issues with water ingress around the spark plugs.

Thanks for all the good comments & especially all the Links etc. I will be forming a shaped aluminium cover the same as DaveW did as a winter project BUT just for the next 2 months I copied what a few others have done & fitted a Ford Duratec plastic cover. Took a lot of “fettling” though 🙄
