Sorry to contribute to the thread drift, but can't resist. Here's Eliot in one of his new favorite places (ignore the disheveled Morgan, and note that Eliot is properly strapped in when under way!)

The deliciously yet acrid aroma of smoke, steam, coal ash and oil pervading inside a steam railway engine shed.
The unforgettable whiff on the breeze of Castol R on the mountain section of the TT course.
The aroma oozing out of your favourite Indian restaurant.
That gorgeous scent of the lady who is about to become your wife.

Fish n chips and a bacon sarnie with chocolate and a coffee, sat outside an Indian where they've just cut the grass using a mower running on castrol R, with a steam railway running past just after a rainstorm......... Whilst sat in the Morgan sniffing the leather......

Walking into Vincent and Jerrom of Taunton old parts/sales room. Triumph/Norton/BSA main dealers in the late 60's and early 70's.. Old wooden floor boards with the smell of new British bikes, Castrol R, rubber tyres and other oils all mixed together.. parts suspended off the ceiling and close packed bikes everywhere. I can close my eyes and still visualize and smell it... bloody lovely....

Similar for Leo but without assistance from medication. See below his favourite chilling position typically just behind my neck. Not the place to be in case of SBD

Or the smell inside your Jaguar MK VII after you clean the headliner, as recommended in the owner's manual, with a "petrol soaked mutton cloth"

Brilliant -
Freshly ground coffee in the morning.
Roasting Michelin's
The air after a hi-tension trip goes and it ionises (how do you spill that?) (Don't lick the cable)
A New Zealand Sauv well chilled
One of JP's apricot jam sugar bomb pastries just out of the oven in Dartmouth. Sod the tablets.

I have led a charmed life. My wife lost her sense of smell after our first child was born and has never regained it. She could not enjoy the smell of coffee roasting in a bean importer in Trieste . The smell of my firework display on her 60th birthday in the snowy mountains of Slovenia ( and no I did not know it was not allowed) ! The pointless perfume I rarely now buy her……or even my wonderful Aqua Di Silva Victor aftershave. The fragrance of flowers I buy her or the bouquet of a nice wine. Even everyday smells, like burning the toast !! Sad really as they can be so intoxicating of remind one of past shared experiences. MM PS Love all the ‘smells’ listed. In the various posts.
