Morgan Oil Catch tank - The Practical Solution

The easiest to install and requires no drilling of fixing holes; easy to remove and empty; uncomplicated as you can see if there's oil collecting in any volume; cheap as it's free with screenwash and many other fluids; and light much lighter than fabricated aluminium.

I had a old ford escort, due to worn rings in the x\flow engine it would spit oil from the crank breater. Fix plastic coke bottle, rubber pip and a self tapping metal screw.

Very much in the dog house, could be up for rehoming

It's a 2 litre. The cap is drilled to accept the breather hose; it's a loose fit on the basis that the bottle, doesn't need to be inflated by the pressure. The tank is held in place by a piece of cable attached to a spring to maintain some tension.

Sorry to be a wet blanket, but i was taught never to use anything flammable under a bonnet. Its looks to be in a safe position but if it is a flammable sort of plastic it could add to any fire and will contain oil, if it detaches in a crash it could finish up on the manifold.
The header tank next to it is likely to be a harder thicker plastic with coolant in so is likely to conform to some safety standard or other along with all the other plastic and rubber under the bonnet. It could be the reason oil catch tanks are usually aluminium?
Sorry to be a prophet of doom, but worth considering?

The crossflow one vents to atmosphere so isn't acceptable for racing. Mind you, I bought mine 20 years ago when such things were more common.

Or Burton power stock them ... here's the cheaper plastic option. Click here

There is a much more expensive chrome one listed!

As I've said previously, it's worked for me since 1989 and numerous races, sprint events and road use. My greater fear would be the amount of fuel that my fuel pump can shift and is held within four carburettor fuel chambers. I definitely wouldn't allow easily flammable materials under the bonnet but in the scheme of things, a plastic bottle containing a bit of oil mist doesn't present any risk. Under race conditions, the greater risk when going off is being joined by another competitor!
