What am I doing up here?

A sad end to a great five day break in Thirsk. On leaving the M62 I touched the brakes and the peddle hit the floor. You don't half push it hard the second time, swmbo nearly went through the windscreen. The offside rear brake slave cylinder pistons had seized, massively overheated the drum and brakes and probably boiled the brake fluid causing bubbles in the fluid. The brakes were smoking when I pulled up. Pistons cleaned and lubed with a tiny bit of copperslip today. This same rear brake overheated a couple of years ago, obviously a poor repair on my part. I must say "Rescue my Car.Com" were really great. Highly recommended and cheap too.

re the discussions on disks vs drums, I suppose one advantage of rear discs, they are less likely to drag and overheat with the results you experienced!

Glad it all worked out well...

Very glad you and your other half are fine , we all dread having a major failure anywhere but the M62 , nasty place to have this !

Thanks for your good wishes guys. I'm just glad I got some braking with the second push. The pistons really were gungy and seized on a 7000 mile car. I need to use it more!
