Epic Euro excursion

The Italian 🇮🇹 trip has begun. The drive to Newcastle to catch the overnight ferry was quite pleasant. The DFDS service is absolutely superb, what a pleasure, all immaculate and a comfortable cabin. the buffet meal and breakfast had endless choice and dozens of attentive staff.
It’s been a long drive from Amsterdam to our next stop here in Munich, top speed on the autobahn was 170mph but petrol disappears fast at that speed and I paid a whopping 2.54euro per litre for the premium stuff on the motorway so probably not worth the time saving.

Some likeminded travellers at the Newcastle terminal

Welcome to Germany and have a good trip to Italy.
I also drove to Italy yesterday, unfortunately not with the Morgan. It snowed a lot in the Alps from the day before yesterday to yesterday.
Looking forward to more photos 😎

The Morgan couple were Dutch I think, I didn’t get an opportunity to speak to them and never saw them again, so far the only Morgan we’ve seen on the whole journey. After yesterday’s long drag through Germany, I’m sorry to say, I’m glad it’s not our Morgan we’re in. I’m not a fan of Motorway driving and it seems like we’re missing some interesting German points of interest but our objective this time is Italy, now we know how practical the ferry is for us, we can always do Germany another time.

They loaded our car on the lorry deck with a massive space, the car deck spaces are probably fine but there’s always some clumsy duffers loaded with luggage trying to squeeze by and low cars attract them, the line of sight leads them to believe there’s more room, same happens in crowded car parks.

Thanks for sharing your trip Ewan, brings back memories of our trips of old. GREAT images too, I look forward to viewing many more. You might just see more Ferrari`s on your trip than Morgans, as the latter are really quite rare and specialised machines... laugh2

Motorways are ever boring unless travelling at 170 MPH..!!! Though rumbling along in my old +8 circa 70MPH on our trip down to Sorrento was perhaps less stressful than taking on a similar trip in a nice little 4/4...Though I am sure some here may have travelled further in a 4/4..?

Munich was a short but enjoyable visit, well worth returning to for a longer stay. We could only spare Sunday morning so as to leave comfortable time for the onward journey to Lake Guarda, all that was open were the spectacular churches and the infamous beer hall, take your pick😂
The onward journey began badly, I contemplated postponing, minus1 and snowing, roads awash with slush on the outskirts of Munich, no 170mph blasts for me. By Austria it cleared and by Italy the roof was down, 15 deg sunshine👍 young lad had his first chance of the car from Italian boarder to lake Guarda, managed fine even in the narrow tunnels.
