Applecross, Torridon and thereabouts.
Had a quick run across to Applecross this week, camped one night at the top of the Bealach na Ba to get the night sky and some stunning dawn light. Spent a day wandering round Torridon under the usual blue skies and bright sunshine followed by a run back over the pass in some dramatic mist to Lochcarron then round by Eilean Donan, Invergarry, Fort Augustus then over the moors to Daviot, Grantown and over the Lecht to get home. ![[Linked Image]](https://tm-img.com/images/2025/10/18/NW-Highlands-4199.jpg) Camped at the Bealach na Ba ![[Linked Image]](https://tm-img.com/images/2025/10/18/NW-Highlands-4265.jpg) Dawn light over the Black Cuillin of Skye ![[Linked Image]](https://tm-img.com/images/2025/10/18/NW-Highlands-4284.jpg) The Black Cuillin; Sgurr Alisdair left of centre and Sgurr Dearg and the Inaccessible Pinnacle on the right. ![[Linked Image]](https://tm-img.com/images/2025/10/18/NW-Highlands-4290.jpg) As a place to park for the night, the view's nae bad. ![[Linked Image]](https://tm-img.com/images/2025/10/18/NW-Highlands-4341.jpg) Typical October weather by Loch Torridon ![[Linked Image]](https://tm-img.com/images/2025/10/18/NW-Highlands-4351.jpg) Under Liathach in Torridon ![[Linked Image]](https://tm-img.com/images/2025/10/18/NW-Highlands-4418.jpg) A rare opportunity to drive the Bealach na Ba without the usual clear blue sky. ![[Linked Image]](https://tm-img.com/images/2025/10/18/NW-Highlands-4432.jpg) Misty Bealach na Ba, again. ![[Linked Image]](https://tm-img.com/images/2025/10/18/NW-Highlands-4433.jpg) Eilean Donan Castle from Ardelve Point. R3, thanks for sharing your travels in Torridon and illustrating them with some wonderful images. As for October weather in the North West, A tale I shared in the forum also with pics was when my good lady and I stayed in the area a few years back while roaming around in our Morgan, parked at the foot of Stac Polleidh (stack polly) and scrambled up to the summit , the weather was as as in your sunlit images. The morning after our return home, there were news reports of folk being cut off by heavy snowfall in the area we had just left... As the old saying goes "nothing as changeable as the weather.."..(-:

Great pictures Calum. We were up in the highlands last week for a short expedition so 'er indoors could do a bit of wild swimming in the lochs, but we took the Land Rover, which TBH is much better than the Morgan for exploring down some of the lesser used roads.
