I have recently purchased a plus 4 and would like if possible to undertake some of the simpler maintenance tasks myself, even if it is 30 years since I last worked on a car. As a basic requirement can anyone recommend a suitable jack and maybe also axle stands, I believe the jack needs to be low profile but I am sure someone will confirm if that is the case.
One further question, the car is 2011 and has 2000 miles on the clock, it had its first service at 1000 miles approx 1 year ago. I believe a service is recommended once per year, do you think that it requires a serviced having done only 1000 miles since the last one. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

don't stint on the quality of the axle stands............they're the only things
between you and getting squished!
Also take great care in placing them.
The trolley jack was the best thing I ever bought....makes doing things oh so simple and yes it must be "low profile" as clearance is definitely a problem and you need to have a bit of room for a block of wood.
