Nigel - Thank you for the tip.
Removed spare wheel and released air vent pipe from filling line by removing jubilee clip, cut back pipe about 25mm to get a nicer sweep.
Went to fill up .... at 12 oclock position managed to have the petrol pump dispencing on full bore till tank full... noted it was a full tank as well.
5 min job requiring a flat bladed screw driver & stanley knife.
