Interesting comment I picked up from the Mini2 forum (I have an early BMW Cooper S)

Never thought of that but certainly worth remembering.
I regularly clean mine as part of annual service and certainly makes a difference. (I use aerosol switch cleaner from Maplins - CAREFULLY!)
All the available data suggest that the ITG does the best job- although if you want to use one of their very nice carbon fibre boxes they are a b*gger to fit under a Mog bonnet in any position which doesn't involve exposure to a heat source or an overly- long travel from the pick up point.
As to the 'oiling' I'm pretty sure we have an earlier thread on TM where several f us banged on endlessly about the problems of over-oiling and the fact it can send the MAF sensor crazy
There used to be an excellent guy at ITG- Andy Jackson who was really switched on and happy to give advice but I've had no contact with him for a little while, so he may have moved on
