In general terms I don't believe there are any more issues with Morgan than there are with any other manufacturer of low volume production vehicles. (ask anyone who has owned a Lotus)
Having had quite a few Morgan's over the years, I must say that that I agree with you Gambalunga. Most of the minor issues that we have had in recent years on our Mog's, have been dealt with efficiently by our local Dealers - SGT, who unfortunately will no longer be Morgan Retail Dealers.
Any more specialist issues have been dealt with by the Works when the cars have gone back for servicing and so far we have not had an issue in getting warranty problems resolved.
This contrasts quite markedly with the C63 AMG which I sold earlier in the year, many of you know the new owner, and one of the alloy wheels developed a hairline crack in one of the wheels and the tyre was deflating. This crack was found by the local Mercedes Dealer when the tyre was stripped off. The wheel had not been kerbed and the crack was not near a rim, and whilst the Dealer agreed that it looked like a manufacturing fault he said that Mercedes would not accept a warranty claim for the wheel. Period!
The new owner wrote to Mercedes UK, who advised it was not a warranty claim without even examining the wheel. Another communication was sent with photos of the said wheel and showing the location of the crack and the fact the rest of the wheel was completely undamaged, again the same terse reply - it is not a warranty claim.
Being a businessman he got his lawyers to write to Mercedes saying that they intended taking a legal remedy to resolve the warranty claim and immediately on receipt of same Mercedes UK contacted him by phone to say the wheel would be replaced under warranty. As he had already bought a new wheel, the car does not have a spare, they agreed to compensate him quite generously with free servicing, etc.
The reason that I have given this example of another manufacturer's response to a legitimate claim, I have some personal experience with Mercedes (and Jaguar) that is similar, is to make a couple of points. Firstly, any manufacturer can have 'issues' and as cars become more complex, electrical gremlins quite often cause serious issues as mechanical quality generally gets better.
Secondly, for me it is how the manufacturer deals with the issues that matters and I would have been as incensed as the new owner by Mercedes' attitude. Whilst the 3W has had some serious issues, so far mine has had two bevel boxes and three compensators, this has been dealt with without any argument and so far, the car has not let me down nor have I been grounded.
We tend to hear about the problem cars, whatever the marque/model, but the majority of cars, including Morgan's, are relatively trouble-free.
Cheers
