When you look at the design of the cross head you can see how the top may flex under heavy braking. The stays are a simple and cheap mod and must give some additional support. They are on my list of things to do....along with a Panhard rod.
The $1000 question is! Will Nero end up as heavily modified at your late 4/4?

In answer to fitting the Brake Reaction Bars....very straightforward. You undo the top nut on the suspension to fit the top of the bar.....don't worry, nothing comes adrift! You have to drill a hole in the chassis top flange for the lower fastening of the bar and then just bolt it on.
