I had them fitted on the 4/4 Sport. In spite of their tread design they gripped well.
I seem to recall from the Avon website that they were recommended for wet weather competition. The classic road race tyre.
They will wear a bit more than standard tyres!
PS. Mine also had a habit of picking up gravel!
