Like DaveW I also use the black Centenery quilted Morgan jacket for winter motoring. Its very warm and although looks bulky it isnt when worn in the car and it has a good collar when combined with a trapper hat keeps you nice and cosy on a cold day. Modern technical fabrics are very good for cold wet weather, they are light and very durable and come in a range of colours. I dont think you see mountain climbers using tweed or leather these days
