It may be that the new style unit will more or less continually lose some grease and need topping up but I've only done about 120 miles since mine was fitted and I haven't had a look yet to see if any (or how much)of the grease has oozed its way out. Of course if yours has lost all its grease in one hit that could be a different matter.
