You could of course run the car without the rack until you need the luggage capacity. I hate my rack and prefer to run without one, a much cleaner look...the side screens will fit behind my seat if needs be...but I'll pop it back on when I need to carry luggage.
I prefer the look of the car with the rack, but I think that is partly because it has a lot of polished metal on show due to the wheels. With dark wheels, as the "Rich Purple" photo shows, simplicity is all.
