I have a few questions and observations.

With the new fan cooling system, where does the exhaust side of the cooling fan vent? I also saw a video about the Top Gear guy doing the M3W drive and while it was raining he said that air was blowing into the foot well as did a lot of rain water. Are the foot wells not totally closed off from the outside or maybe open up to under the hood, sorry, bonnet?

As far as performance and the exhaust goes, just having pipes as long as these are cuts into the power a lot. I know guys that have Harleys with big tall chopper like straight pipes up and out the back and they lose lots of power. Just plain drag pipes do increase performance, but man are they loud. Drag pipes are in the 40” to 50” range.

My ’09 Harley has o2 sensors and do give some adjustment to the map, but no where enough to compensate for a more open exhaust system. I have a reprogrammed map in my ECM that lowers the air/fuel ratio a bit to help cool the motor and obviously adds some hp to the bike. My bike had a CAT in the header pipe, but it’s long gone now. I also ground down the welds on the baffles at the rear of my O.E.M. 4” diameter mufflers and removed the baffles. Inside there is a fiberglass packing around the baffles that help to absorb some of the noise. I then installed 2” baffles from Fullsac Performance in Phoenix AZ. They also sell TTS Master Tune tuning system. When my model CVO came out they dyno’d about a dozen of them with gutted CAT and their 2” baffles. When you buy their baffles and the TTS from them, they furnish you with their canned dyno proven map. My 110” CVO gets 47 mpg two up and has lots more get to it as well as a noticeable reduction in heat from the exhaust.

What I’m hearing from you guys is with the exhaust and possibly some freer breathing air cleaners, you really should retune the ECM and have it dyno’d. But at this time I’m not sure who would do that for such a limited number of M3W’s out there.

Here is Fullsac’s website: http://www.fullsac.com

The owner’s name is Steve. He works with the people that make the tuners and maybe he has some experience with the S&S wedge motor and can help you guys out.

On a side note, it sounds like you guys are having a blast with your M3W’s. I remember what it’s like to be this excited about a new toy.

Keep up all the great posts so I have more reading to keep me busy…

Thanks.
