I had a work collegue that had a new Porsche in about 1987. He came back after picking it up from a routine service and looked somewhat depressed. It had cost him a whole months of his executive's salary to pay for the service. To keep up appearances he was always short of cash. In the end it cost him his job because he started selling off showroom and demonstration stock on the sly and got caught out when someone called for a warranty repair on a computer that had gone missing from the showroom.

Moral of the story: check out what ownership is going to cost you before you decide.
