Those sprocket cut outs are about 7" in diameter to give you an idea of the size.
We can get great material utilization from the water jet. It even has an auto nesting option if you're going to run multiple parts of the same part number within a certain material size. It will find the best layout to optimize the material efficiently.
Like I said on the 2" thick 1/4" tapped holes, the water jet is good enough that we just go ahead and run a tap through the hole, no drilling necessary.
My boss had some teak wood left over from a deck project and had his name cut in script into it and used it as a house name sign.
If we're cutting Lexan, we usually put cardboard over the top so the puncture holes don't overspray outside the hole. There is "some" blow back when holding in one spot while the jet works its way through the part.
