Are you looking at this sort of item ?

I got something looking very similar from e-bay. The performance is mediocre to say the least. Fine sat at home but in the Mog not very good at all. It is great at my end but the other party complains of low volume from the throat mike. I have looked at other (much more expensive) throat mikes but not had the guts to take the plunge. I suspect you get what you pays for.

Conversely I bought a pair of Sena blue-tooth m/c helmet mikes for the M3W (http://www.sena.com/product/product/smh10/). These have a boom mike and are good for 55mph or so; "okay-ish" at 65; and useless above. They are great for helmet-to-helmet communication (over half km) and okay (not hi-fi, but then neither are my ears these days) for listening to MP3 on the phone. Both you and passenger can listen to the same music.

There is a near-identical non-helmet version that I expect to have the quality (http://www.sena.com/product/intercoms/sph10/).

I have debated getting one for the odd times we are out in both the 4/4 and the 3-wheeler.
