My Duratec Plus 4 had a similar issue.
Note the instruments are a different make to your GDI.
The problem used to clear itself after being switched off for about an hour.
Best get your dealer to take a look.
If it is a intermittent fault can I suggest you take a video of the problem on your phone so that you can show them what happens.
