Yes, tried it about 40 years ago, with friends from work, before the sport was regulated. We jumped off a hill at Mere, Wiltshire. First time was side by side with instructor and then second time was solo and intercom. I can still recall him yelling in my ear RIGHT RIGHT, TURN RIGHT.
Next I tried gliding at Lasham. They forgot to take off the castor wheel on the rear of the aircraft. No harm done, landed safe and sound.
Lapsed PPL. Haven't done micro lights yet.
