on my older cars they were where Lawrie says with a bypass (fused) to run the clock.
On my Rover T16 +4 switching off & on could lose the ECU memory but everyhing still worked. Kill switches are easy t owource on e bay as Mr Morgan's is a cheap example I was considering an upgrade before I was seduced by my 2006 Roadster.
I know other peole have shipped cars to the USA S Africa or NZ with no problem. Maybe you could try it at home over the winter first?
