Oh yes there is. The Union Flag can be flown upside down. It signifies that the flier is in distress.
Maybe it not so obvious on this badge but you can make out the dominance of the Saltire Cross in the top left quadrant.
Look again at the badge, it doesn't matter which way up you put it, the Saltire Cross dominance is
always the top left quadrant (with the pole assumed to be on the left).
The only way you could make the dominance the other way up is to stick the badge face down, just as to fly a flag upside down you'd have to turn it over.
