Hi Dave,
I have some 3 eared spinners and I grease the threads with the same grease as the suspension.
When you hammer them on they just get tighter until you feel a solid feeling as you hit them.
Oh, they are put on by hand whilst jacked up, then a slight knock on whilst holding the wheel. Then lower and tighten right up.
Strange I know, I am used to torque wrenches etc, but you will get the feel for it.
Also they are left and right threads so they will tighten themselves to some degree as you drive.
I have heard that some MOT testers fail cars with spinners, but classic car dealers and Morgan dealers are OK with it. I think there is some stupid law depending on the age of the car. No one seems to worry though.
