I have read somewhere, on the mogtalk forum I believe
that you should alway hammer the nut tight with the wheel OFF the ground. This prevents the shock load to be transmitted to the spokes. With the wheel of the ground there is a little bit of "give". The weight of the wheel and tire prevent that it all spins away when you hit. I have tried it (with the hex nut and the hammer wrench) and it appears to work fine. JT.
