In the past we only had the choice of good reflectors and Quartz Halogen bulbs.
Now we seem to have a plethora of products available and some confusion is inevitable.

I think it is useful to ask why we need to upgrade. Most of us don't thrash down forest tracks at the dead of night in Morgans, so a pair of the best reflectors, and the highest power bulbs are possibly sufficient for the amount of night driving we do.

I wasn't happy with the dipped beam performance, so went to an HID system. This has been good enough for me, but I do appreciate the lower current consumption of LED lights which will cut not only the draw on the generator/alternator and through the switchgear.

The legality of these systems for the MoT test is something else that also needs clarifying.
