Emailing the factory for info about a 30 year old Morgan is unlikely to be of much use. The flats are introduced by flattening one side closest to the tyre leaving the other side completely round. Beware that clamping the pipe in a vice will cause the vice jaws to merely flatten both sides of the pipe which is not what is wanted.
Make sure that the garage uses a former or dolly to maintain the 'round' or get them to use an engineering firm that does pipe work as they should be able to do it.
Alternative is to have a side exiting pipe but that's more of a personal choice.
PM me your email address if you want a photo.
My local garage already did flatten it a bit by heating it up and using a hammer... I might have gained 2cm of clearance.
PMed you about for the picture, thanks.
I will take off the wheel on a lift when I get in for the fan rad replacement at my local to see how much rubbing I'm getting now with the axle movements.
