It was mentioned in another topic that the company is closed the whole week after the easter weekend. I find it very uncommon for a company of that size to be completely closed for a week during the year. Is that normal in the UK?
Does that mean something?

To the contrary, it would be normal for a manufacturing company to do that. People have a holiday entitlement and the last thing you want is for them to take it a few days at a time whenever they want and leaving you short manned. So closing the factory for a week or two takes 5 or 10 working days out of everyones holiday entitlement in the most convenient way for the business.
Thats certainly what I did with the business I ran. Employees were left with maximum 5 holiday days that they could take when the factory was working albeit even then it had to be at a time convenient for the business.
