Well guys thanks to everyone for the advice and comment, all very helpful.
This morning I plucked up courage and pushed the "instal " button. It took about an hour of nail biting but I'm pleased to say that it all seems to be working fine and just as fast as before through my BT infinity broadband. As others have pointed out the "photos" function is different and I think it may take a while to get my head around. However I'm very much a holiday snap photographer so I'm not to concerned about the finer aspects of editing etc. I've always thought Apple to be intuitive and Yosemite seems to make it more so. Also it seems to have restored the sharing with my IPad. All in all I'm well pleased and not a little relieved.
So hint to
a new IPhone 6 (and an Iwatch?
) would be nice!
