I started my engineering apprenticeship in 1979, then went on to do a HNC in mechanical engineering. I was a production engineer also known euphomistically as a professional bodger until 1992 then went into the gas industry.
Is being a time served engineer a pre requisite to M3W ownership, probably not but it helps.
