From previous dealings with the factory, I dont have a great deal of faith that the issues would be addressed and resolved without a great deal of hassle.
The car is fine to drive and I get over 30mpg overall driven hard.
Does anyone have a simple answer to this without paying loads of money for a new ecu.

Check if you have at least one of the replaced ecu. They came in spring 2012. If I recall correctly this replaced ecu were marked with an orange or yellow sticker. But of course I don't know if the replacments can stand the MOT. The original ecu with which the cars were fitted first run much too fat. The replacement was free of costs at the time.

I have to add that the fumes were also existent with the replaced ecu.

If no one can help, perhaps it is a chance to ask the guys of frontline. The P4SS was a small and now closed series. The LE50 is a toy they have to take care about until today. May be they have some info or mods to cope the MOT.
