ISTR that for this application, MMC used an ECU manufactured by MBE rather than Omex? In which case, if the car is out of warranty, then one option would be to get a new 9A4 ECU which is not locked down & a copy of the Easymap software, and get someone to do you a decent map.

If you buy from SBD Motorsport they'll do you an ECU with a basic map already configured, so it's not a question of starting completely from scratch. I found them extremely helpful when dealing with them - they supplied me with the CAN interface to the MBE ECU in my car, but I have no other relationship with them.

Admittedly, it's not a cheap way to go, the ECUs are around 700 quid and a decent rolling road with someone who knows what they are doing is going to cost c. 1,000 per day, but you'll get the map that you want
