Completely. I remain convinced that the map in the ECU is designed for a correctly breathing engine, not the bunged and stuff-up config they run as stock. The pinking was undoubtedly due to heat build-up in the cylinders and bad exhaust gas clearance. Now that it can breath properly, it runs perfectly - just as it was designed, ironically.

As PaulJ said, it's such a shame that design form was sooo much more important to MMC than function. Having said that, I would not be surprised if there was some arbitrary Power:Weight figure requirement somewhere that dictated the power restrictions. I have no doubt that it's easier for a manufacturer to produce a single spec for the majority of the world markets (Australian madness aside), than have many variations. I'm still very grateful to Morgan for making the thing in the first place though....

But we have a G56 variation now and I am a very happy M3W owner once again !
