Cars with big wheels and wide, low profile tyres don't have to have a poor, tyre noise rich, ride. It is all down to the suspension engineer....

If he/she has set the car up for German roads then life could be rough.
If he/she has set the car up for English roads then life can be good.

We have the Plus 8 and two modern German things. The Plus 8 has lower, 35 profile tyres than the Germans but rides better.
We recently took a Jaguar XE out, with the sport suspension and adaptive dampers.
Quite sublime, steering more like the Plus 8 than the Germans and quiet: no tyre noise. Unlike the BMW....
