Ok, I think there's enough perspective in these comments to put some context into the ramblings of a tea monster, so thank you for your time everyone.
I like the idea of a 'staged' tune up or build/refurb but the odds are that it wouldn't go to schedule or that some other aspect of life would become priority, and I don't like leaving things unfinished.
It's clearly not a financially viable proposition, and I'd worry that I'd end up with a mongrel of some sort that many wouldn't value. I've always wanted to hot rod a Morgan, but I have no facilities in my single garage, and it's easier to play with my bikes as I have a workshop for those, but unless I create a very successful monster I'm doomed to the rest of the naff home builds upon which everyone pour scorn!
Of course the easiest way is to either get someone to do the work for me & thus add credibility and retain future value, or do what everyone else does and buy one that's been done already.
I'm just an avid dreamer I guess, but I just have a vision in my head that won't go away & it's got to come out sooner or later or I'll burst!
Anyway, I've run out of biscuits here, so I'll wind my neck in now..
