I agree, the earlier XK8 in coupe form is a stunning looking car and relatively cheap.
There are moments when I look at the "first" XK8 and think - hhhmmmmmmm nice car - and then you look at the driver all cramped in - and then you look at the oh so 1980s Jag dash and you realise the beauty is only skin deep. (Although the latter R models are well sorted).
The more recent XK on the other hand is superb. OK the infotainment is a bit rubbish but the rest of the package in superb. The R-S is over powered and will go sideways with a mere brush of the throttle - but the 5.0 is a wonderful companion. It can sound all naughty when you want it to and it can be a nice lazy V8 cruiser when you have a continent to cross. Depreciation is pretty brutal on them too!
