Hi,

I currently have a three wheeler and am looking to move on to a Plus 4. I am taken with the narrow bodied car and am very close to signing on the dotted line.

I have searched the forum for the answer to my question but i do not think there is a thread covering narrow bodied tyre choice for the future. Plenty on the standard plus 4, but none for the GDI narrow bodied version.

I understand that the tyres fitted to the narrow bodied plus 4 are a bit special 185/70R15 89V and as supplied are Avons at about £250-£300 a piece. The alternative in the 89V load ratings are all in that price bracket too.

What i do not understand is that there are 89H variants from various manufacturers at around £100 a tyre.

Does anyone know of a good reason why Morgan have specified the V rating for the tyre (i.e. carries the load at 149mph) as opposed to the H rated tyre (carries the load at 131mph)?

I am pretty sure that short of driving off a cliff and achieving terminal velocity, there is no way the GDI Plus 4 will get to in excess of 131mph; even then i think the drag will limit it to less than the H rating smile

Seems a shame to be channeled down the route of £1000-£1200 for a set of tyres rather than the potential of £400-£600 when the time comes.

I am assuming that insurance companies will require the V rated tyre, even though this appears to be over specified?
