Good pictures P964, I have had several dealership mechanics tell me that they now fill the box right to the level of the orange plug on the side. The theory is that the box is not pressurized and the extra oil AIDS cooling and adds a measure of sound deadening. On our first long road trip, my wife (and myself) were unprepared for the shrieking bevel box. The 2nd box is somewhat quieter but my wife's solution was a set of molded ear plugs which she claims makes the ride quite pleasant. YMMV
