Well nearly there....
Engine oil and filter changed, tappets adjusted, head bolts checked, coolant drained (inc. engine block) and lower and upper radiator hoses removed (new ones on the way), gear box oil changed, diff oil changed, steering box oil changed, damper plates removed, cleaned and refitted, steering, wiper motor, prop shaft, rear axle, pedals and king pins greased, leaf springs oiled, nuts and bolts all tightened, new brake pads and pins at the front (the green-stuff ones never had the right feel for me) and rear brakes dissembled and cleaned ready for new cylinders (on the way too).
All bolts tightened, everything degreased and cleaned, tires checked.
All that is left to do is check the Armstrong units and change their oil (never done - at least by me) and fit the radiator hoses and refill, fit the new rear brake cylinders (I changed one before due to a threading issue so want to change both now) and refit/bleed the brakes all round.
I've been pleasantly surprised how little I've found that needs replacing or was not right (other than planned service items). I found a number of lose bolts (inc. u-bolts at the rear), the washer jet motor impeller has disintegrated (again!) so have ordered a new one and an earth at the rear that was not held on my a nut. I've re-secured some cabling too at the rear.
The replacement air filter is of a slightly different design so doesn't fit the housing. Not to worry I can get a K&N one now...it's on order!
I've spent about 20 hours this week going through it all, item by item, stripping down, cleaning, reassembling etc.
Hopefully the package with the brake cyclinders and hoses will arrive on Monday so before I head to Dubai for a week for work the car can be off the axle stands ready for new air filter and washer bottle motor on my return (quick installs).
I'm planning to do the carb (not sure when it was last done, seems OK, but have the parts so why not :)). As I've never done one before I'd like to limit any problem solving until I have it up and running after the above. Then I'll do the carb.
What fun
