Am I alone in reading the article in the Telegraph last week stating that NASA has declared that antartic ice cover has increased appreciably.
Yes, unfortunately the NASA study found that the increase in Antarctic ice is failing to make up for the accelerated loss of sea ice globally. Moreover the loss of arctic sea ice is much more problematic because the sea is much more absorbent of heat as the ice disappears, much more so that the thickening of existing ice cover offsets.
This is one of those facts that is being seized on by AGW denialists as some sort of evidence that everything is ok, whereas actually it's an indicator that world weather patterns are being disrupted more seriously and more quickly than the models indicated.
