In order to create some more toy space I’m currently getting the garage extended and have been looking at different options for finishing off the floor.
Looking on the interweb is looks like most of the things I‘ve considered have some draw back so I’m after the some feedback from the TM massive on what they have and the issues they’ve encountered.
Options considered so far
Floor Paint
Plastic Tiles
Carpet Tiles
Resin Floor
Porcelain Tiles
Your experience with any of these or any other suggestions greatly appreciated.
Hi John, my experience with garage floor paint has not been good. Unless you spend a LOT of money to prep the underlying concrete it will wear/flake eventually.
There is another option for your list - it's like a very heavy-duty lino which is bonded to the floor. It is typically used in hospitals, hi-tech factories etc. Advantage is that it resists all solvents and sections are bonded together. It can even be tanked partway up the walls for damp resistance, use of pressure washing etc. I laid a profiled screed under mine to allow water to run off to the front. Cost around £70/msq so 2-3 x cost of the best tile systems, but this does include the cost of the prep and screeding
