Is that me? Perforce a little over harsh I would have thought?
I did not "insist" that they sell me a roofless car. I asked them to. They said yes. I did ask if they could reduce the cost of the car by the cost of the Hood. They said no. Fair enough, it was worth a try. It wasn't even the fact they also would not give me the hood (which I had paid for remember), it was the attitude I got when I asked that rankled a bit later.

Are Ferraris built to order?. If yes then I would be pretty surprised that if you ordered a Ferrari but told then not to bother fitting a hood that they would have an issue.

I am delighted for you. Did you buy your car direct from the factory? On my drive back to Jersey it wasn't things like picking up the fact that a push-rod was stuck in the engine making a huge ticking noise that bothered me so much (despite the fact that I had to ship the car back to the mainland to get it fixed). It was a few days later when I phoned in my 14 item snagging list. One of the items was that the brake pedal rubber came-off on the way to the Ferry and got jammed under the brake. "Oh they all do that sir, glue it back on with some evostick". Hold on, if they know that the brake pedal rubber falls off why don't the MMC glue it on?. The seemingly expensive engine did not bother me, it should have been picked up but it was not a common fault. It was the brake pedal rubber that I found annoying. I have a number of other examples but mustn't go on.
Sadly I have heard of too many people with similar (actually much worse) experiences from the factory to believe my experience(s) were a one-off. But I have also had some good things as well - after I got the car back from the warranty work, I spotted that the rubber grommets under the sidelights had been replaced. They had been a bit grotty but I had not put them on my list. I was very impressed with that level of detail.
But - no doubt to everyones relief - I won't post on this topic again it's getting a bit bad tempered.
