I wouln't change the battery in a petrol after 5 years. Normally they will last much longer. My father had an Audi where he changed the battery after 17 years. Diesel cars need new battery after a shorter period. If a Diesel battery is older than 8 years it was very well serviced. I changed mine after 5 years. My Morgan battery was 8 years when I had to change because of a failure inside.
