Worked on a friends 89 Plus 8 yesterday. He had a long punch list. Fixed what we could but there were a few things beyond my abilities to correct. He needs to have his offside Armstrong shock rebuilt. Leaking badly and his car dies at a light or stop. My guess was the ECU? Rebuild as well. Thoughts?? .

ECU not likely IMH, more likely to be the stepper motor on the flap valve that controls the air coming into the engine. The stepper has 100 segments and these can get dirty and give voltage miss-readings, then the ECU does not know where the throttle position is. When no throttle it needs to be 3.5v, if I recall correctly. Initially I would remove and clean with electrical contact spray, refit making sure voltage at closed is correct.
Hope this helps.
