It's a conundrum Frank...........
The best way to lube a cable is with it hanging vertically. But that takes effort. As it is, the cable follows a 'C'shape where each end is at the wrong end of a slope. So fitted on the car, the only place to get lube in, is the engine end. I would imagine the cable is nylon lined, so it should self lube, but mine was polished shiny on the top edge where it rubs on full throttle. Erm.... not that I use full throttle Yer Honour.
So my main concern is to provide extra lube at that spot, and I figured that LM grease smeared into the cable will help. If a strand brakes there, it could easily stick on full throttle, which might just be too exciting for the good of yer trousers.
I might test an extra return spring, but it needs a small bracket for the 'securing to the manifiold' end, so that will have to wait. It may make the throttle too heavy and that could be tiresome on a long journey.
