I joined the merchant navy in January 1966 as a cadet.
We sailed from Tilbury on 7th Feb.my very first trip.
The Bay of Biscay was wild! And the good ship SS Mahanada fully laden pitched and rolled through it for three days.
I was as sick as the sickest dog. Sooo ill. I went green.
Much to the amusement of my colleagues I must add!
