So I have finally decided on what Headunit to get for my S1 Aero, and inevitably I have started to look at new speakers and so on! Now I know the V8 is a lovely soundtrack, but occasionally when cruising with the roof up it would be nice to have a good audio system, I also think a car like this deserves one.
I was hoping to draw on anyones experience with the S1.. so far I can see two front speakers located in the footwells, they are marked "Dayton VDO". I haven't found any other speakers.
Now I would like to replace these but I have no idea how much room there is in the aperture or what size they are (shes tucked away atm so not easy to get to).
So..
- What size do I need to replace them, and will a top of the range speaker i.e. Alpine fit in the hole?
- I was thinking of getting component rather than co-axial, but is it worth the hassle as the tweeters will need to be seperately located for component. I am no audio guru but would I even notice the difference?
- Is there anywhere to mount rear speakers? Ideally I would want them mounted on the edge/side of the rear shelf area leaving the shelf free for storage.
- I would like to add an under seat subwoofer such as

I guess at least the speakers aren't mounted in the doors, as they would rattle and sound awful with the lack of sound deadening..
