We enjoy useless sports cars, burn petrol for the pure fun of driving and point our finger at modern cars because of pollutions? My 4/4 hardly meets any modern standards as I got an updated ECU, alternative exhaust system and an open air filter. My 2 ton Audi runs better fuel economy than my light 4/4.
I wonder how much more petrol is burned to move a +8
By the way: my M3W with the "great" S&S engine from the US is most likely even worse on emissions/horsepower than your +8. At least it burns more petrol per mile than any of my other cars.

The issue with this VW problem is one of deceit and falsification. Yes, I drive a Plus8 and am aware of the emissions compared to smaller, newer engines. I pay a price for the enjoyment in extra fuel costs/tax, VED, etc..
This is a personal choice.
My comments about VW are based on the deceit/false claims aspects.
How many people are truly eco conscious to the full extent? Not many. Most will agree with the concepts and make some changes. However, cost saving is the more prevalent reason. High mileage driving? Buy a diesel to cut fuel costs, enough to save money even with tax loading, car value etc. I did this for purely personal economic reasons and reverted when things changed. Go electric? Not cost effective for me.
I would guess that most people with a fun/hobby/lifestyle car like a Morgan make similar decisions. Which model depends on their personal tastes and circumstances.
What should happen to VW?
Corporate liability up to a sensible level.
Individuals responsible for the policy/deceit....further action, possibly criminal.
Both depending on legal factors.
