This is the national grid status page. At lunchtime today Friday 2nd December we are in the amber region of electricity demand that starts at 45 Giga Watt Hours. We are at 45.86 Giga Watt Hours.

The danger area starts at 55 Giga Watt Hours and today is not that cold and therefore as the temperature reduces the demand goes up.

We are probably needing another 3 or 4 large powerstations to get to a more balanced output/demand ratio.

That appear not to being built at the moment.

The distribution network overhaul needed to provide the power to the large 3 phase charging banks need to fast charge a large number of cars will also not be able to keep up with the demand of new electric cars.

There will e a crunch period of a good number of years while generaying capacity and distribution capacity catches up.
