Stuart, it's not complicated for me, I just hand over to the next generation what I received from the previous one:
From my parents I got a proper education, a city-flat and a car - and some confidence that in the worst case I could get some more limited support from home (what I never needed)
My children are free to study at univerity (all 3 girls are close to complete their studies or have already got their degrees). They will get (or got) a mid sized flat and a car or similar value and I am sponsering some trips to foreign countries to broarden their view of the world.
I'm proud that all 3 are doing quite well and I have obviously planted a reasonable philosophy in their hearts and brains - I can leave them on their own now and we can spend our money for whatever we want (even on the children if we'd like to do so - but we made them independent)
